Driving map to Chapel Rock
Being at Chapel Rock is a breath of fresh mountain air, with the scent of pines, a vista of massive boulders
and nearby mountains, and a mild climate. We offer the restful, rejuvenating setting you’ve been searching
for your next conference or retreat.
What do I bring to the retreat?
Letters will be send to all registered participants before the retreat with instructions and suggestions for
what to bring to the retreat.
We suggest you offers you the opportunity to "pack light" and layer your clothing for changes in temperature.
| - Personal reusable water bottle |
- Soap, shampoo, lip balm, and other toiletries |
- Medications including aspirin, if needed |
- Flashlight & Batteries |
- Shower flip flops &/or bedside slippers |
- Bedding and linens provided in double rooms |
- Clothing that can be layered (e.g., t-shirt, sweater, and jacket) as the temperature varies. It can get very cold at night. |
- If you’re in a bunk room - Sleeping bag or bed-roll (sheets and blankets) |
- Comfortable shoes and socks |
- Pillow, towels and washcloth |
| Please bring a mat or blanket to lie on the floor for a short time. |
You may also want to bring: Drums or other rhythm instruments and dancing shoes (we have been known to dance and frolic at night), pillow or cushion to sit on, personal dietary needs, warm PJ’s and/or robe, rain gear, sun screen, insect repellent, sleeping mask. Don’t forget your money; to buy raffle tickets for the scholarship fund and/or CDs from our musicians. Bunk mattresses may be hard; some women like to bring a foam, or air mattress. Networking materials and a brochure stand (business cards, brochures, free samples or flyers of upcoming events, nothing for sale). Please leave your perfume and aromatherapy at home, some women are very sensitive to fragrances. Also leave your valuables at home the sleeping rooms are not locked. Tuck in a sense of wonder, adventure, enthusiasm, and laughter; you’re all set.
Please remember to nurture your body, mind and spirit by keeping well hydrated in the higher and drier elevation at Chapel Rock. We will be nurturing Mother Earth by reducing our overuse of plastic disposable water bottles, by refilling our bottles with the wonderful, clean and tasty mountain water from the camp’s drinking fountains. To encourage conservation of our Earth’s resources, and because there is limited parking, we recommend carpooling.
Please note: no smoking is allowed inside any buildings. Smoking allowed only in the designated smoking area, except in times of high fire danger when there is no smoking on site!
Registration is 4:00-5:30 pm. No early birds, please, unless you have a specific volunteer responsibility.
Dinner is served 5:30-6:00 pm. If you’re arriving after 6PM, we suggest you have something to eat on the way.
Our evening gathering begins at 7:00 pm in Newell Hall.
Chapel Rock Policies And Procedures
- For user groups of less than one hundred and fifty (150), Chapel Rock reserves the right to use available cabins for other user groups. Special care will be taken to ensure that your program and participants are not disrupted.
- The organization or group and/or its members shall be held financially responsible for damages or loss of Camp property as a result of improper use of the Camp property and facilities. Damage, loss or cleaning charges will be based upon repair, replacement, and labor costs.
- To minimize the risk of personal injury and/or property damage, the group’s representative must supervise participants at all times. Adult supervision is required at all times when children are present and is required in all youth cabin facilities. Buildings not specifically assigned for the use of your group are not to be used without permission.
- Upon arrival at Camp, the leader of the organization or group should check in with the Camp personnel to discuss specific arrangements and needs. An orientation should be scheduled to acquaint the group with Camp policies. Before leaving Camp, the group’s representative should again meet with Camp personnel to confirm the number of participants, check for damage, loss, and cleanliness and verify billing information.
- The speed limit is 10 miles per hour. Excessive speed will result in the loss of vehicle privileges on camp property. Persons may not ride in the back of pick-up trucks on camp property. Please use caution when driving through the residential areas adjacent to Chapel Rock.
